How to use?
What you will need:
A Plastic Mixing Applicator.
Safety Gear (Safety Glasses, Gloves, Ear Muffs).
Wax and Grease Remover.
Our Stud Welder / Dent Puller Kit for Car Body Repair - Hunter 007.
A Panel Hammer.
A Grinder or Sanding Block.
Gridding Discs or Sandpaper.
Glass Fiber Mixing Applicator.
Make sure the surface you are going to be working on is clean. Using one of our Dry Cloths apply our Wax and Grease Remover. Once applied, wipe the area clean using another cloth. This will help make sure everything has been completely removed and that you have a fresh, spotless surface to begin with.
Step 1: Removing the Paint from the repair surface - Begin with removing the paint from the dented area. Ensure that you remove 50mm of the surrounding area. To remove the paint, use a machine or hand sand with a 24 - 36 Grit Sandpaper. Once you have removed the paint from that section, clean the area with a Wax and Grease Remover.
Step 2: Applying a Metal Tech or Glass Fibre Filler - Mix the correct required amount of Glass Fibre Filer or Metal Tech. Using the ratio of one-part hardener to fifty-part filler, ensure your tone is visibly continuous and consistent before you proceed. If the tone is correct, then immediately apply a thin layer to the dented area. Gradually continue to apply the remaining filler until the affected area is slightly higher than the surrounding area.
Step 3: Sanding the Surface - Please note: The hardening of the area should take 20-30 minutes if it was mixed correctly. Once the mixture has completely hardened and fully cured you can process to dry sanding. You can dry sand the area by hand sanding or using a 40 – 80 Grit Sandpaper. If you think further filling to the affected area might be necessary, you can reapply the filler and follow the same process again.
Step 4: Completion of Surface - Feather sand the area with a 120 – 180 Grit Sandpaper. This will help you to achieve a smooth finish. Once you are happy with your repaired area you can proceed to paint.
Tips and Warnings:
Make sure you wear safety gear such as safety glasses, ear muffs and dust mask.
Take your time and be precise when mixing hardeners with fillers. If your mixture has the incorrect measurements such as too much or not enough hardener it will remain soft. If your mixture is soft you will have to remove it an begin mixing again.
For the best result make sure you use firm pressure on the applicator when applying the mixture. This will ensure that your mixture gets in all the creases, cracks and gaps whilst assisting in eliminating any air pockets.
Please ensure you don’t apply any fillers to painted metal. This is because the mixture will remain soft and will have to be removed.
It's all about having good technique so take your time - prepare well then execute.
